Course Questions
What are the entry requirements for the course?
Refer to the course information found on this website for all entry
requirements. For example a Certificate III in Arts (Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing) has a Year 10 level of entry or Recognition of Prior Learning.
What this means is a person must have:
successfully completed Year 10, or
worked previously in a related industry, or
completed study in a related course, or
if none of the above but are over 21 years of age, you can enrol as a mature age student.
If you have any questions regarding entry requirements please contact the College Co-ordinator.
Are the courses Austudy approved?
All of the Nationally Recognised courses offered at CATC are Austudy approved for full time study.
How do I know if I am eligible to receive Austudy payments?
You will need to phone Centrelink to find out the eligibility as it relates to you. CATC does not make the decision as to whether you are able to receive Austudy.
Contact Centrelink on 13 2490
No, however you will find that the National Australia Bank offer a loan (National Tertiary Student Package Deferred Repayment Loan) for those wishing to study nationally accredited courses. Either drop in to your local branch, visit them at www.nab.com.au , or simply ask our college co-ordinator about it.
What is RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)?
If you have completed another related course or if you have previously worked in a related industry, you may be eligible to receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). What RPL means is that you are able to gain credits towards the course you are enrolling in, therefore your course will take you less time to complete, as you will not need to re-learn skills you already have.
How do you apply for RPL?
You need to contact the College to arrange an RPL meeting with the College Co-ordinator and Head Lecturer. You will need to bring the following with you:
Any Certificates / Qualifications of previous related study.
Examples of work completed or a portfolio.
Letters from previous or current employers (if applicable), which state the tasks that you regularly undertook or currently undertake in your position.
RPL is granted at the discretion of the Commercial Arts Training College.
